Our hearts are full. We received news the other night of the results of the girl who hit Jeremy's Dad. She is 23 years old. She was drunk and has been charged with a DWI and will be charged with vehicular manslaughter. I spoke with the off-duty police officer at my work and he told me she won't really get much for it if its her first offense. He said MAYBE a couple years in prison. The maximum sentence for this crime is 25 years in prison. Why do people think its okay to drive drunk?? I pray that she can find peace within herself for what she's done. Her father sent his condolescences. (sp?) He was very apologetic for his daughter's actions. The most unfortunate thing is that this is not a rare occurence in this day and age. How many of us knew a person who was killed by a drunk driver? I bet every person who reads this blog knows of at least one. It breaks my heart for both parties. This young girl will have to live everyday knowing she killed a very loved man who is missed everyday.
